Galloway Fire Department Has Fir Avenue Fire Under Control

No injuries were reported.

The Galloway Township Fire Department has a house fire on the 400 block of Fir Avenue under control at this hour, and no injuries have been reported.

Volunteers from Bayview, Germania and Pomona fire departments, as well as Pomona Fire Rescue and the Galloway Township Police Department reported to the fire on the corner of Fir and McKinley avenues at 10:37 Tuesday morning, Nov. 6.

According to Police Officer Bill Schroer, who was on the scene, the fire was nearly out within minutes, and the fire department reported the scene completely under control as of 11:47 a.m.

According to Schroer, two males were on the scene at the time of the fire. They reported hearing pops outside on the porch as they were inside watching TV. They saw a fire on the porch, and within minutes, it was out of control, Schroer said.

"They were trying to put it out, but within minutes, it was out of control," Schroer said. "When we arrived, it was a fully working structure fire."

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
