Galloway Man Among 12 New Atlantic County Sheriff's Officers

Michael D. Griffin is an Absegami graduate and Stockton student.

An graduate and current student was one of 12 new Atlantic County Sheriff officers who took the Oath of Office during the Atlantic County Board of Chosen Freeholders’ meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 11.

Michael D. Griffin, 23, currently resides in Galloway Township. He is a volunteer firefighter with the Bayview Volunteer Fire Company, according to a biography released by the Sheriff’s Office in a release Thursday afternoon, Sept. 13. He is currently studying to obtain a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice, according to the release.

Griffin is one of two Absegami graduates and one of five associated with Stockton College to be sworn in on Tuesday.

Katherine N. Naveja, 24, is an Absegami graduate and currently resides in Egg Harbor City. She attended Absegami and

Victor D. Gano, 42, is married and resides in Linwood. He graduated from Ocean City High School, and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice from Stockton College. He transferred from the Atlantic County Justice Facility where he worked as a Corrections Officer. He was Employee of the Month twice, and the 2010 Employee of the Year.

Jacquiline E. Guischard, 27, has a Bachelor of Science in Business from Stockton College and is currently pursing a graduate degree in Business Administration from the same school. She resides in Somers Point. Her father, Lester Guischard, was a Buena Boro Police officer for eight years. He was killed at the age of 26 in an automobile accident while responding to a call to assist another officer.

Brandon A. Markowitz, 24, has an Associate in Science degree in Business Administration from Atlantic Cape Community College and a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management from Stockton College. He is a volunteer firefighter for the Nesco Volunteer Fire Company and a basic forest firefighter for the New Jersey Forest Fighter Service. He lives in Hammonton.

Dianna L. Wamsher, 27, is a New Jersey Certified Elementary teacher with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Literature and Teacher Education from Stockton College. Her brother, Michael Wamsher Jr. was a 10-year veteran of the Atlantic City Police Force. He died in a motor vehicle accident in Tampa, Florida in January of 2011. Her father, Michael Wamsher Sr., is a retired Atlantic County Sheriff’s officer.

The other officers sworn in included:

* John A. Amendolia, 24, of Hammonton. He attended Hammonton High School and Atlantic Cape Community College. He is presently employed by the New Jersey Air National Guard 177th – Security Forces and is a veteran who served in Afghanistan;

* Bryan M. Bene, 24, of Hammonton. He graduated from Hammonton High School in 2005 and has a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance from the University of Delaware;

* Alan T. Chambliss, 33, of Egg Harbor Township. He attended Oakcrest High School;

* Michael L. Corrado, Jr., 26, of Hammonton. A graduate of Hammonton High School, he obtained a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Rutgers University. He has already attended the Basic Course of Police Officers and graduated the Alternate Route Program at the Atlantic County Police Training Center in June 2012. He is the son of Lieutenant Michael L. Corrado, Sr. of the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office;

* Thomas James Denton, 36, married and resides in Egg Harbor Township. He attended Atlantic City High School and Holy Spirit High School; and

* Paulo L. Pereira, 38, of Hamilton Township. He attended Egg Harbor Township High School. He transferred from the Atlantic County Justice Facility where he worked as a Corrections Officer.
