Galloway Man Charged With Illegal Gun Trafficking

Jared M. Horton, 26, was charged with illegal possession of a shotgun, and selling a firearm without being licensed or registered to do so.

A Galloway Township man has been charged in connection with an illegal gun trafficking ring, Acting Atlantic County Prosecutor Jim McClain announced Friday afternoon.

Jared M. Horton, 26, of the 100 Block of East Boundary Avenue in Galloway Township, was charged with illegal possession of a shotgun, and selling a firearm without being licensed or registered to do so.

The charges came following a five-month-long investigation by the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office Gangs, Guns and Narcotics Unit and the Galloway Township Police Department.

Horton was arrested on April 15 and lodged in the Atlantic County Justice Facility in lieu of $100,000.00 cash bail.

The charge of illegal possession of a shotgun is a third degree crime, with a potential penalty of between three and five years in State prison. Selling a firearm without being licensed to do so is a crime of the fourth degree, punishable by a term of imprisonment not to exceed 18 months.
