Galloway Woman Charged With DWI Following Early Morning Crash

Harriet Evans was charged with DWI, open alcoholic beverage in a motor vehicle, CDS in a motor vehicle, reckless driving and failure to maintain lane.

A Galloway woman was charged with DWI following a head-on motor vehicle collision that resulted in two people being hospitalized, Galloway Township Police announced Thursday afternoon.

Harriet Evans, 46, was charged with DWI, open alcoholic beverage in a motor vehicle, CDS in a motor vehicle, reckless driving and failure to maintain lane.

She was driving a 2005 Dodge Caravan north on Pitney Road around 6:55 Thursday morning when she crossed the center line and went off the roadway. She returned to the road in the south bound lane and hit a 2009 Nissan Rouge being driven south by Lakesha Green, 42, of Galloway.

Both drivers were injured and transported to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center City Division with non-life threatening injuries.

Both vehicles suffered extensive damage and had to be towed from the scene. Pitney Road between Great Creek Road and Quail Hill Blvd was closed in both directions for about one hour while the accident scene was cleaned up.

Two ambulances from Galloway Township EMS, AtlantiCare Medic 7 and AtlantiCare Medic 200 assisted in the incident.
