Galloway Woman Dies After Being Hit by Car on Leipzig Avenue

Elizabeth Torpey was hit by a car while walking down the street with a friend Wednesday morning. Her friend and the driver were taken to the hospital with multiple injuries.

A Galloway Township woman is dead after being hit by a car on Leipzig Avenue just after 9:30 Wednesday morning.

Elizabeth Torpey, 67, was walking on the sidewalk with a friend when she was hit by a 2007 Honda Civic travelling north down the road. The driver of the car, Sharon Musher, 41, of Philadelphia, lost control and the car left the road, striking both pedestrians and hitting a tree.

Torpey was pronounced dead on the scene. Anna Jordan, 73, was transported to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center Mainland Campus with multiple injuries.

Musher was also taken to the hospital, with minor injuries. Charges are pending an investigation by the Galloway Township Police Department’s Traffic Safety Unit.

The road was closed for three hours.
