A Galloway man was driving down the White Horse Pike Monday afternoon, March 4, when he noticed the smell of smoke. He pulled into the CVS parking lot, and moments later, the car was fully engulfed in flames.
About a dozen volunteer firefighters from Germania and Pomona reported to the scene of the car fire around 2:15 p.m., and within 10-15 minutes, the blaze was extinguished, according to Fire Marshal Ron Garbutt.
"The passenger side was fully involved," Garbutt said. "The wind direction stopped the building from becoming fully involved."
No part of the store was damaged.
The man parked his car in a parking lot on the side of the building. The car was destroyed, but no one was injured. The cause remains under investigation.
The entrance to CVS was temporarily blocked, but the store remained open.
