Galloway Township police officers responded Saturday afternoon (Oct. 26) to the Pomona Oaks section of the township for the report of motor vehicles burglary and a theft in progress.
A witness followed the suspects to a home on St. Joseph Avenue. Patrol units arrived and while investigating the call, a juvenile male exited the residence and attempted to obstruct the investigation of the burglary.
Police said the juvenile in question then physically resisted the officer as she attempted to take him into custody. K-9 Officer Welsh arrived as backup and K-9 Titan apprehended the juvenile who was actively resisting arrest.
The juvenile repeatedly punched K-9 Titan during the apprehension, according to police. While the officers attempted to control the juvenile, a resident at the same location, later identified as Patricia Pendleton, 47, obstructed justice by physically attempting to prevent the juvenile’s arrest, police said.
Pendleton was taken into custody and charged with obstruction of justice and resisting arrest. She was processed and released. The juvenile was medically treated and placed into home detention.
The juvenile male was charged with obstruction of justice, aggravated assault on police, assault on a police K-9, resisting arrest, burglary and theft.
K-9 Titan does not appear to be injured from the assault, police said.
