Landisville Man Sentenced to Over 12 Years in Prison For Two Bank Robberies in One Day

Larry Patrick Kearns robbed banks in Atlantic City and Ventnor and stole a car in Margate.

A Landisville man has been sentenced to one year, seven months in jail after pleading guilty to two bank robberies in one day, U.S. Attorney Paul J. Fishman announced on Wednesday, Jan. 30.

Larry Patrick Kearns was also sentenced to three years of supervised release and ordered to pay $9,458 in restitution after he previously plead guilty to two counts of bank robbery in connection with the robberies of Wells Fargo Bank in Atlantic City and Sun National Bank in Ventnor on Jan. 12, 2012, Fishman said.

According to documents filed and statements made in court, Kearns entered the Wells Fargo Bank in Atlantic City, approached the clerk, threatened her and demanded money.

He then traveled to Margate, stole a car and took it to Ventnor, where he committed a similar crime in the same fashion at Sun National Bank.

He was captured by police after he crashed the stolen car into a tree.

Fishman credited special agents of the FBI, under the direction of Acting
Special Agent In Charge David Velazquez in Newark, as well as the Atlantic City Police Department, the Ventnor Police Department, the Margate Police Department and the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office for their cooperation in this case.
