Man Recovering at AtlantiCare Following Accident at Purdy Automotive Construction Site

Still unidentified, he fell off a ladder between 12 and 15 feet, according to Mayor Don Purdy.

An unidentified man is recovering at at this hour following an accident at the construction site for Purdy Automotive Tuesday afternoon, April 11, according to EJT Custom Exteriors owner Ed Taylor.

According to Taylor, the man was coming down the ladder with his tools when he lost his balance and fell roughly 12 feet to the ground. He was taken to the AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center Trauma Center for precautionary reasons.

According to Taylor, the man suffered bruised ribs and a scratch on the side of his face, and will be released tomorrow. He had his hard hat on at the time of the fall. Taylor didn't release the identity of the worker.

Purdy Automotive is the new automotive center being constructed on the White Horse Pike, and is owned by Galloway Mayor Don Purdy, who was not on site at the time, but was in communication with Taylor from the time the accident occurred.

After the accident, Taylor's men cleaned up the site and left for the day. Taylor expects the injured worker will be able to return to work in a couple of weeks.

"I've been in business 10 year and this is the first fall I've had," Taylor said. "I'm always on my guys (about safety). ... This was a simple accident."
