A Pleasantville man wanted on several warrants out of Atlantic County was charged with possession of a loaded handgun near the boardwalk Wednesday night.

Stanford Walker IV, 23, was charged with unlawful possession of a handgun and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, Ocean City Police announced Thursday afternoon.

Ocean City’s Boardwalk Officers came into contact with Walker on the 800 block of 8th Street near the boardwalk Wednesday night at about 8 p.m. Walker was carrying an open alcoholic container.

Walker was arrested by the officers for processing on the arrest warrants and issuance of a City Ordinance alcohol violation summons.

During the search of Walker following the arrest, police discovered a loaded .380 caliber handgun tucked into the waistband of his pants. Police secured the gun without further incident.

Great work by the OCPD. I would hope those asking for police and fire reduction see the value of being protected or over protected.
