Police Apprehend Galloway Man Following Foot Chase Through Woods

Injured police officer was treated and released from hospital Sunday afternoon.

A Galloway Township man wanted on a narcotics charge by the Atlantic County Sheriff's Department was captured in Galloway following a foot chase through the woods Sunday afternoon, Galloway Police said.

A police officer involved in the pursuit injured her hand, according to the police. She was treated and released from the hospital.

Nicholas Iaconis, 25, was charged with resisting arrest. His bail was set at $25,000. This was in addition to his no bail warrant, police said. He was transported to the Atlantic County Jail.

Iaconis was a passenger in a vehicle that was stopped at the White Horse Pike and Avenue A Sunday afternoon, Oct. 14 around 1 p.m., police said. Officer Jacqueline Crocker made the stop, and subsequently discovered Iaconis was wanted on the narcotics warrant, according to police.

Iaconis fled the scene on foot into a wooded area, police said. Crocker pursued him through the woods, and captured him on Xanthus Avenue, police said.

Crocker received a cut on her left hand during the chase, police said. She was taken to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center and was released after several hours, police said.
