Galloway Township police arrested a 19-year-old man Saturday evening after they found him in the woods bleeding from several cuts and carrying items allegedly stolen from a nearby home on Cherokee Drive.
Police first responded to the report of a burglary at the Cherokee Drive residence at about 5:39 p.m. Saturday (Aug. 17).
Officer Jacqueline Crocker found the young man in a nearby wooded area. The suspect, Samson Jenkins, cut himself while allegedly breaking a second-story window to enter the victim’s residence, according to a police news release.
Stolen property from the Cherokee Drive residence and from a burglary on Club Place was located on Jenkins, police said. More stolen property — including jewelry and electronics — was located in the immediate area.
Jenkins, a Galloway Township resident, is charged with two counts of burglary and theft. A warrant was issued and he was transported to the Atlantic County Jail on $40,000 bail.
