Police Catch Young Burglar in the Act on Spencer Lane

A 16-year-old from Atlantic City faces multiple charges.

A neighbor called 911 early Monday morning after watching somebody suspicious walking into the back of the house next door on the 300 block of Spencer Lane shortly after midnight.

Police responded in time to see a young man leaving through a garage door and carrying electronics, according to a Galloway Township Police Department news release.

When he saw police, the suspect dropped the items and ran. Officers caught him after a short chase. He was identified as a 16-year-old male from Atlantic City who allegedly had kicked in a basement window and entered the residence.

Inside, he stole select items before finding the homeowner sleeping in an upstairs bedroom, police said. At that point, he left the residence where he encountered police.

The Juvenile was lodged in Harborfields Juvenile Detention Center on the following charges: burglary, theft, criminal mischief, possession of CDS and possession of marijuana under 50 grams.
