Stockton Police Participating in Operational Take Back New Jersey

It is one of several departments collecting unwanted, expired or unused medication on April 30.

The Richard Stockton College of New Jersey Police Department will be one of seven departments participating in the countywide effort known as “Operational Take Back New Jersey,” the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office announced on Friday.

“Operational Take Back New Jersey” will be hosed by the Drug Enforcement Administration’ New Jersey Division (DEA). All residents are invited to turn in their expired, unused or unwanted medications at police departments throughout Atlantic County on April 30 between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.

Other departments participating include Absecon, the Atlantic County Sheriff’s Office, the Atlantic City Police Department, the Egg Harbor Township Community Center, the Margate City Police Department, the New Jersey State Police, Buena Vista Station and Somers Point.

The effort is headed up by the DEA, in conjunction with the New Jersey Office of the Attorney General, the New Jersey State Association of the Chiefs of Police, the NY/NJ HIDTA and the New Jersey National Guard.

Last year, more than 14,000 pounds of unwanted, unused or expired medication was collected from drop boxes throughout the state. In 2009, 9,000 pounds was collected.
