Woman Released From Hospital Following Collision Between Train and Car at Pomona Crossing in Galloway Township

She was stuck in traffic while attempting to clear the crossing, an NJT spokesperson said.

A woman was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries after her car collided with a train earlier Tuesday night, Dec. 27, a spokesperson for the New Jersey Transit Authority said.

Ann Macera, 61, of Galloway Township, was taken to the hospital after her car became stuck on the train tracks at the Pomona Road crossing, Courtney Carroll of the New Jersey Transit Authority said Tuesday night.

She was transported to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center Mainland Campus Emergency Department. She has since been discharged, AtlantiCare officials said Wednesday morning.

Macera had apparently attempted to cross the tracks as the train was coming. She was unable to move forward or back up, due to traffic in the area, Carroll said.

The front end of her vehicle ended up being struck by the train, which was en route to Philadelphia from Atlantic City. She was issued a summons for stopping on the tracks.

A detour was set up until the accident scene could be cleared, around 6 p.m.

Around the same time, a vehicle crashed into the crossing apparatus at the Genoa Avenue crossing in an unrelated incident, Carroll said.

A detour was set up in this area. A short time later, a three-car collision took place, the Press of Atlantic City reported. This incident was being handled by Galloway Township Police, according to the report.
