Jean Antoine and Thomas Snyder were among 10 who took the oath of office on Tuesday.

Two of the Atlantic County Sheriff’s Office’s newest recruits hail from Galloway, while four more come from either Port Republic or Egg Harbor City. A total of 10 recruits were sworn in Tuesday prior as part of the county’s reorganization meeting.

The officers include: Jean Antoine, 34 of Galloway; Thomas Snyder, 36 of Galloway; Paul Burgan, 27 of Egg Harbor City; Kyle Butler, 27 of Port Republic; Barry Heffley, 26 of Egg Harbor City; Joseph May, 31 of Egg Harbor City; Christopher Andricci, 23 of Mays Landing; Ricky Francesco, 25 of Margate; Eric Francis, 24 of Mays Landing and Keith Platt, 25 of Somers Point.

Atlantic County Sheriff Frank X. Balles noted he was happy to be able to provide jobs to new recruits at a critical time, specifically citing the closing of the Atlantic Club over the weekend.

“Our hearts are with those who have been forced out of work, by no fault of their own, due to the recent closing of the Atlantic Club," Balles said in a statement issued Tuesday afternoon. "I am thrilled to be able to replace the officers we have lost due to retirement and give these individuals a chance to begin a rewarding career in law enforcement."

None of the recruits were formerly employed at the Atlantic Club.
