Woman Taken to AtlantiCare With Chest Pains Following Three-Car Accident on Pitney Road

Virginia Farris was transported to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center City Campus by ambulance.

A 57-year-old Galloway Township woman was extricated from her vehicle and transported by ambulance to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center City Division following a three-car accident on Pitney Road just south of Collins Road Thursday morning, Jan. 17, police said Thursday night.

Virginia Farris was driving her 1997 Nissan Pathfinder south on Pitney Road at 10:44 a.m. when she collided head-on with a 2012 Subaru, being driven northbound by Dorothy Johnson, 67, of Galloway, police said.

The Subaru collided with the Nissan after the Subaru was hit from behind by a 2010 Chevy Camaro, police said. The Subaru had come to a stop when a car in front of her stopped in the road. The Subaru was then hit from behind by the Camaro, being driven by Lauren Falivene, 24, of Port Republic, police said.

Only Farris was taken to the hospital, as the other drivers all refused medical treatment, police said. All three cars suffered extensive damage and were towed from the scene, according to police. The airbags in all three cars were deployed, police said.

Falivene was issued a summons for careless driving, according to police. The road was closed for 45 minutes while the scene was being cleared, police said.

Patrolman Brian Tennant is investigating the accident.

The road was damp and the sky was cloudy at the time of the accident, police said. Galloway Township Ambulance Squad and medics assisted on the scene.
