Atlantic County Issues Reminders for Storm Preparedness

A winter weather advisory has been issued for Atlantic County.

In anticipation of a significant coastal winter storm, Atlantic County officials encourage residents to monitor weather forecasts and media outlets and make preparations for potentially moderate coastal flooding and beach erosion, high winds with gusts between 40-55 mph, and wet snow that could result in possible power outages.

The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory and coastal flood watch for our area from late Friday afternoon through Saturday morning.

Residents may visit www.ReadyAtlantic.org to locate storm preparedness information and resources, including contact numbers for the local offices of emergency management. It is also a good time to review family emergency plans and restock emergency supply kits. Property owners should secure loose outdoor objects that could become airborne due to high winds. Should flooding impact roadways, motorists are reminded not to drive through flood waters but instead to turn around and go another way.
