Galloway Councilman Jim McElwee responded to charges of sexual harassment by offensive touching late last week after a Hamilton Township municipal judge ruled there is probable cause to move forward with the complaint.
"While I am disappointed that this could not be
dismissed, I look forward to addressing the court and proving my
contention that nothing inappropriate took
place," McElwee said in a prepared statement issued Friday night. "I am confident that I will be exonerated and the truth will be
self evident that this was no more than an attempt to embarrass me and
sabotage my campaign for re-election. I want to thank my family and friends for their unwavering support during this very disturbing time!"
He has been accused by a Press of Atlantic City reporter of sexual harassment by offensive touching in an incident that allegedly took place on Oct. 8 at the municipal complex.
His arraignment hearing has been scheduled for Wednesday morning, Oct. 30, 9 a.m. in Hamilton Township.
