Galloway Township will hold its annual reorganization meeting tonight, Jan. 2, 6:30 p.m. at the municipal complex. Although the township's newest councilman has already been sworn in, several appointments and professional contracts will be approved, according to the agenda on the township's website.
There was one municipal election in November, in which Jim McElwee defeated John Mooney to assume the seat left vacant by the resignation of Dennis Kleiner in June. As the winner of the election was to fill the remainder of Kleiner's term, McElwee has already been sworn in, meaning that he will not have to take the oath of office tonight.
The office of Deputy Mayor, currently held by Tony Coppola, will be up for nomination, as is the case on a yearly basis. Coppola assumed the role of Deptuy Mayor in late 2011, and was officially sworn in to the position at last year's reorganization meeting.
The Planning Board's reorganization meeting is Thursday night, Jan. 3. The Zoning Board's reorganization is Thursday night, Jan. 10, according to the township's website.
