Galloway Updates Advertisement For New Manager on the League of Municipalities Website to Reflect Feb. 17 Application Date

Township Manager Steve Bonanni's retirement takes effect Jan. 31.

has updated an advertisement looking for a new township manager on the New Jersey League of Municipalities website, Township Clerk Kimberley Hodsdon confirmed Monday morning, Jan. 30.

Steve Bonanni, who has served in that role for the past year, announced his retirement earlier this month. That takes effect on Tuesday, Jan. 31. A special meeting will be held on that date to determine an interim manager.

The advertisement initially called for resumes to be in Feb. 3. The updated advertisement pegs the new date for Feb. 17.

The advertisement calls for the applicant to have a bachelor's degree in public administration or a related field and five years of governmental administration experience.

A master's degree is preferred and at least five years experience as a manager in a municipality of similar size, which the advertisement lists as 38,000-plus. According to the advertisement, they are also looking for "increasingly responsible local government management positions."

The advertisement states the township is looking for someone with experience with the Open Public Meetings Act, Open Public Records Act, Division of Local Government Services, media relations, personnel policy and operations, preparation of annual municipal budgets, negotiations and collective bargaining units and independent contractors for goods and services.

There is no salary information in the advertisement, which can be viewed in its entirety here.

Council members have said since Bonanni announced his retirement that they are seeking someone from outside the township to take over as manager.

Bonanni was named acting manager on Jan. 25, 2011, following the release of the township's former manager.
