Galloway Schedules Reorganization, Regular Meeting For Jan. 2

There will be only one meeting in December.

Galloway Township is advertising a reorganization meeting and a regular meeting to take place Jan. 2, 2013. There will be only meeting this month, on Dec. 11. The second meeting, which usually takes place the fourth Tuesday of the month, will not take place because it would coincide with Christmas Day.

"Because there is only one meeting in December, if there is other business that needs to be conducted, council can take care of it at that time," Township Clerk Thalia C. Kay said. "We'll have the reorg first, and then anything else that needs to be taken care of will be taken care of."

No new council members will need to be sworn in. Jim McElwee, the victor in November's special election, was sworn in on Nov. 27. Kay expects the regularly scheduled council meeting, set for the following Tuesday, Jan. 9, to go on as scheduled.

"But they may just do everything that night and then just hold the next meeting on the fourth Tuesday," said Kay, who said the schedule will clarify as January approaches.
