Galloway Township Manager Will Officially Retire Jan. 31

His retirement is an item on the agenda for Tuesday night's meeting.

According the agenda for the Council meeting scheduled for Tuesday night, Jan. 24, Township Manager Steve Bonanni's takes effect Jan. 31.

Bonanni announced his retirement on Jan. 10 of this year. At that time, Bonanni stated his retirement would take effect in February. The agenda posted on Friday, Jan. 20, is the first official mention of a date for Bonanni's retirement.

The Jan. 31 retirement date means Bonanni will have served as township manager for a little over a year. He took over the position when the former township manager was on Jan. 25 of last year. Bonanni also serves as the Director of Public Works.

According to Mayor Don Purdy, an advertisement for the township manager position went out last week.

A total of 20 resolutions are slated for Tuesday night's meeting, and include topics such as changing the method for financing the township's unemployment obligation, adopting a cash management plan pursuant to state statute, finishing committee and official positions in the township not completed during the reorganization meeting of and changing the hours of operation for the office of the Registrar of Vital Statistics.

There will also be a discussion about policy changes and an ordinance concerning increased sewer service rates.

The high number of items on the agenda is due, in part, to the of the Jan. 10 meeting. That meeting was canceled because the mayor and deputy mayor were unavailable to attend, Purdy said at the time.
