Jane Lugo Steps Down as County CFO and Treasurer

Atlantic County appoints new CFO and Treasurer Bonnie Lindaw at the County Freeholder's Meeting in Mays Landing.

After working with Atlantic County's budget office since 1988, Chief Financial Officer Jane Lugo will retire this year.

The Atlantic County Board of Freeholders unanimously agreed on a resolution confirming the appointment of Bonnie Lindaw as the new chief financial officer and treasurer of the county on Tuesday at the Atlantic County Justice Facility in Mays Landing.

After serving as a comptroller, Lindaw graduated in 1987 from the and has been serving the county as Comptroller for the last four years. She has been with the county since 2001.

“I look forward to serving the county and maintaining a high level of fiscal management that the freeholders expect,” said Lindaw.

Lindaw has been training and preparing to take the position under the tutelage of Lugo. Freeholder John Risley emphasized that the continuity in the treasurer's office has kept the county in good fiscal standing for years. Under Lugo, the county has had 12 perfect annual audits.

Lugo was presented with a plaque commemorating her years of service by Freeholder Frank Giordano.

Giordano stood in for Freeholder Chairman Frank Formica, who was out of town during the meeting.

“I do appreciate the opportunity to serve Atlantic County and Bonnie is going to be right behind me there and I know I taught her well,” said Lugo. “She is going to be great for the county."

Lindaw's term as CFO and Treasurer will expire on December 31, 2012 as she is finishing Lugo's final four months and will be reappointed at an upcoming freeholder meeting.

The next freeholder meeting will be Sept. 11 at 4 p.m. at the Atlantic County Justice Facility in Mays Landing.
