LoBiondo Requests Pay Suspension, Furloughs Employees in Light of Government Shutdown

He said there's plenty of blame to spread around in this situation.

Congressman Frank LoBiondo (R-2) has requested his pay be suspended and promises to place employees at his offices in Hamilton Township and D.C. on furlough, nj.com reports.

According to the report, LoBiondo sent a letter to the Capitol requesting to have his pay suspended "until normal operations are restored." He intends to furlough about half his employees.

He told nj.com there was plenty of blame for everyone in the federal government shutdown, but added President Barack Obama should've done more to negotiate with House Speaker John Boehner.

Meanwhile, Rep. Rush Holt (D-12) accused the Tea Party of holding every aspect of the federal government hostage "for hatred of a bill that, very simply, helps families afford health care."

Gov. Chris Christie called the situation "a failure of everyone responsible for the system," according to nj.com.
