Looking for Info on a New Jersey Attorney? Look No Further

A new online database includes more than 80,000 attorneys licensed to practice in New Jersey.

A searchable database containing information about more than 80,000 attorneys licensed to practice in New Jersey is now available on the New Jersey Judiciary's website.

“The online attorney index is an important resource,” said Judge Glenn A. Grant, acting administrative director of the courts, in a prepared release. “Consumers can be assured that the attorney they have hired is licensed and eligible to practice in New Jersey. They also can find out where the attorney’s office is located and how long the attorney has been in practice.”

The database includes the date of admission to the bar, the attorney's status to practice law in New Jersey, and the county and municipality of the business office of practicing attorneys. Private attorneys, government attorneys, judges and in-house counsel are all included.

To use the index, go to the Judiciary's website, and click on the "Legal" tab at the top of the page.

To search, use the last name and first initial of the attorney you are seeking.

Attorneys can use the online attorney registration and payment system, found on the Judiciary homepage, to update professional information.

When a change is made to an attorney's home address or billing address, that change will be reflected immediately in the attorney index.

When a change is made to a business address, it is reviewed by Judiciary staff.

Once it's approved, that information is available immediately.
