Public Hearing for Skate Park to be Held Tonight

Proposed fines of $250 and a $65 processing fee were announced at the last council meeting.

A public hearing will be held concerning the Skate Park when Galloway Township Council meets tonight, July 10, 6:30 at the municipal complex.

Proposed fines of $250, plus a $65 processing fee for those who violate the rules of the skate park were introduced at the June 26 council meeting. Initially, Township Manager Arch Liston proposed a $500 fine and a $75 processing fee, but members of council felt those prices were too steep for parents in this economy.

The proposed fines were introduced after the skate park was closed in early June because of a continued disregard for the park's rules. It reopened June 14 with some guidelines.

The full agenda for tonight's council meeting, as listed on the township's website, can be found below:

Don't be fooled....Galloway wants to sell Skate Park! Read the ROSI Documents!....This fine & fee is just a way to get less & less kids using the Skate Park. How many kids will come back after getting $315 in fines & fees? This Council wants to sell everything!....Skate Park...Imagination Station...Patriot Lake....Soccer Fields...Community Garden....Volleyball Courts....All buildings including Post Office. Just say NO!....to Galloway Mayor & Council! A better plan would be to make part of skate park for bikes. Create memberships with photo ID. Kick out troublemakers. Memberships could be reasonable....$10 - $25 yr. This is just Galloways way of getting rid of Skate Park!
