Reassessment Discussion on Tap for Tuesday's Council Meeting

A new deputy clerk will also be appointed, and the Memorandum of Agreement between the township and manager Arch Liston is also on the agenda.

Galloway Council will discuss the possibility of a hybrid reassessment for the 2014 tax year when it convenes Tuesday night, Oct. 9, 6:30 p.m. at the municipal complex, according to the agenda posted on the township's website.

The resolution is on Tuesday's agenda due to declining property values since the 2009 property revaluation. There were more than 2,000 tax appeals in 2012, which council members and township administration say is putting a strain on the municipal budget.

In the last three years, the township has furloughed employees, including 12 furlough days over the summer. In September, the township issued notice of possible layoffs to all township employees, with the exception of statutory employees, and final layoff notices are expected to be delivered no later than Nov. 16.

Ordinances concerning a bond referendum for funding revenue loss and an ammendment to the township code concerning towing companies will also be introduced.

The township is also scheduled to appoint Kelli Danieli as Deputy Clerk, and amend the Memorandum of Agreement between the township and Manager Arch Liston, who took over the position in March. The agenda as it appears on the township's website can be found in full below.
