Township Manager Praises Departing CFO; Councilman Reiterates Need to Fill Position Immediately

Jill Gougher is leaving Galloway Township for Asbury Park next month.

Galloway Township Manager Steve Bonanni issued a statement praising Chief Financial Officer Jill Gougher Tuesday afternoon.

to take the same position in Asbury Park on July 15.

"I would like to thank Jill Gougher for her 24 years of dedicated service to Galloway Township residents in her numerous roles," Bonanni said in the statement. "Jill never backed down from a challenge and has always had the best interest of Galloway Township residents at heart.  Not only her experience in finance, but her dedication to work will surely help Asbury Park as it has Galloway.

"It has been great working with a professional like Jill."

Gougher has served several roles in Galloway, including that of township manager. Gougher is taking the same position in Asbury Park, a larger community with growing development similar to Galloway.

Galloway Township has already begun its search for a new CFO. An ad has been placed and a few applications have been received, according to Bonanni.

"Jill Gougher will be a great loss to the township," Councilman Tom Bassford said at Tuesday night's council meeting. "We need to fill the position immediately. ... It's hard to find loyal, ethical employees. Most people would give two weeks' notice, and use their vacation time, but Jill's still in her office every day, working hard for Galloway Township."
