Township Renews Liquor License for JDs Pub

After a highly publicized incident and some discussion, Galloway Township approved the liquor license for at its meeting Tuesday night, June 26 at the municipal complex.

It also approved the liquor license for which had been delayed due to an issue with paperwork.

The license for JD’s Pub was under consideration following an in which six people were arrested and four were injured in a fight in the bar’s parking lot.

JD’s license was renewed under the agreement that there would be no more college night.

“We met with their attorneys and the establishment has been cooperative,” Township Manager Arch Liston said.

JDs is participating in tonight’s on the Village Greene in . Tickets for the event are $10 each, $30 maximum for a family, and proceeds benefit the Hope Chest Food Pantry.

JDs Pub offered shuttle services to students at the on Thursday nights during the school year. Students were waiting for a shuttle in the early morning hours April 27 when the fight began.

It was a fight the bar's owners said was “blown out of proportion” at the time.
Other liquor licenses were previously approved, but Liston wanted to hold this license while the township evaluated the establishment.

“They’ve always gone out of their way to comply and this is no exception,” Galloway Police Chief Pat Moran said.

“It’s a great asset to the community,” Mayor Don Purdy said. “My family goes there for dinner and I’m proud to say they’re a business in our community.”
