Emari DiGiorgio to Deliver Fall Commencement Address at Stockton College

DiGiorgio is a professor at the school and an award-winning writer.

Award-winning writer and college professor Emari DiGiorgio will deliver the keynote speech at the Richard Stockton College of New Jersey's fall commencement on Sunday, Dec. 16, college officials said on Friday.

Ceremonies begin at 1 p.m. at the Sports Center on the Galloway Township campus, officials said. According to preliminary estimates, over 850 degree candidates are scheduled to participate in the commencement ceremony for summer and fall graduates, officials said.

DiGiorgio has been recognized as a Distinguished Teaching Artist by the New Jersey State Council on the Arts, according to a statement issued by the school. She's also received the Governor’s Award in Arts Education, and her poems have appeared in numerous journals, in print and online, according to the school.

She is also a recipient of a Vermont Studio Center Residency, a New Jersey State Council on the Arts Poetry Fellowship, and the Ellen LaForge Memorial Poetry Prize, and was recently featured in the Dodge Poetry Foundation’s “Poetry Friday” blog, school officials said.

The Associate Professor of Writing at Stockton also holds a monthly creative writing workshop at the South Jersey Chapter of Gilda's Club, a Cancer resource center, college representatives said.
