Five Things You Need to Know About Monday's BOE Meeting

Many were honored for their work during the hurricane, and a referendum is scheduled for Dec. 13.

1.     The concerning roof replacement , and schools, and the fire alarm replacements at , Roland Rogers and Smithville will go to a vote Dec. 13. That is the same day the on a new roof, new heating, air conditioning and ventilation system, and solar panels. Both questions will be on the same ballot.

2.     The first of the final two Back to School nights is tonight, Sept. 27, at , beginning at 7 p.m. hosts the district’s final Back to School Night Oct. 6 at 6:45 p.m.

3.     The following people were honored for their help at the evacuation and safe haven sites during Hurricane Irene: Steve Bolli, Operations Manager; Harry Davis, the Galloway Township Middle School Head Custodian; Cathy Hilferty, Child Care Coordinator; Gary Kirschenmann, Senior Network Engineer; Sharon Kurtz, Galloway Township Middle School Principal; Marilyn Moore, Supervisor of Testing, Guidance, Health Services and Grants Management; Robin Moore, Roland Rogers School Principal; Joe Palumbo, a Classroom Assistant at Roland Rogers; Diana Rodriguez, a Food Services Worker at Smithville Elementary School; Miguel Rodriguez, Roland Rogers Head Custodian; Allyn Snavely, Manager of Buildings, Grounds and Custodial Services; Larry Timberman, Galloway Township Middle School Night Foreman; Joanna Westcott, Communications Officer; and Diana Walters, a Classroom Assistant at Pomona Pre-School.

4.     Monday night was first night back as a member of the Board of Education, taking over for , who resigned in June to move to Ventnor. Kasunich was a member of the board for seven years, but didn’t run for re-election earlier this year. She has also served as the PTA president’s liaison and a member of the Smithville PTA. She will serve out the rest of Styles-Landgraf's term, which expires in April.

5.     An extra meeting has been added to the Galloway Township Board of Education’s calendar. It will be held Nov. 14, meaning there will be two meetings in November. There is only one meeting scheduled for September and October.
