Former Absegami Football Player Receives Three Awards at Delaware Football Banquet

Wide receiver Mark Schenauer won the Unsung Hero Award, was a co-winner of the Captain's Award and won the Baker-Taylor Award.. He graduated from Absegami in 2006.

University of Delaware Senior Wide Receiver and former football player Mark Schenauer won three awards at the Blue Hen Touchdown banquet on Friday night, Jan. 27, according to a release from the school.

Schenauer, senior lineman Gino Gradkowski and senior linebacker Andrew Harrison were named co-winners of the Captain's Award. They were among 18 seniors to be honored at the banquet.

Schenauer also won the prestigious Baker-Taylor Award, the oldest award in Delaware athletics. It is presented to a senior player on the football team who stood out in terms of leadership, dedication and determination.He also took home the Unsung Hero Award.

Schenauer played wide receiver at Absegami and graduated in 2006. The Braves won the South Jersey Group IV title that year. They were 11-1 overall and tied Hammonton and Atlantic City atop the Cape-Atlantic League American Conference with a 7-1 league record, according to MaxPreps.com.

Delaware went 7-4 this past season.
