Galloway, Greater Egg Harbor School Referendums to Appear on Separate Ballots

Both school referendum questions will go to a vote Dec. 13.

In an effort to clarify to the community that its referendum is separate from that of the Greater Egg Harbor Regional School District's, the announced on Thursday afternoon, Nov. 17 that the referendums will appear on different ballots, and will be voted on in separate voting machines.

The concerns essential roof repair/replacements in , , and elementary schools, fire alarm replacement in , Roland Rogers and Smithville schools, and renovations to the storm water system and reconstruction of the parking lot at Arthur Rann.

The Greater Egg Harbor concerns roof replacement at and Oakcrest, and solar installation at all three of the district's schools, which also includes Cedar Creek High School.

Both referendums go for a vote on Dec. 13. Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. According to the Greater Egg Harbor Regional School District's website, polls will be open to vote on its referendum at the .

"There are people in our district who don't realize we're not a K-12 district," Galloway Superintendent of Schools Annette Giaquinto said. "We're going to let the Galloway question stand on its own, but we're going to do things together to promote both. We're not doing this for any negative reasons."

According to Giaquinto, the Galloway School District will have a table set up at Absegami's presentation of "White Christmas" to explain its referendum. The district also invited representatives from Greater Egg Harbor to its American Education Week presentation Thursday night to discuss the high school district's referendum.
