Galloway Teacher Advances to the Second Round of Great American Teach-Off

This week, Roland Rogers teacher Terry Dougherty answers a question about making a difference.

Roland Rogers Elementary School third-grade teacher has advanced to the second round of the Great American Teach-Off.

Dougherty, who works with children who have parents in the military in and around Galloway Township, is one of eight teachers nationally competing for a $10,000 grant. The contest began last week with 10 teachers.

Each week, the teachers are asked to produce a video answering a specific question. The videos are then posted on good.is/gato, and members of the public have a week to vote for their favorites. The two teachers receiving the least amount of votes each week are eliminated. The contest runs through the first week of November.

Those voting must register with the website and can vote once a day every day.

This week's question: What are you doing to make a difference? Dougherty's response is attached to the story, and is also posted on the Great American Teach-Off website, along with the responses of the other seven remaining competitors.
