Great American Teach Off Voting Closed at Noon Today

The winner will be announced Thursday. Roland Rogers teacher Terry Dougherty is competing for a $10,000 grant.

Voting in the Great American Teach Off closed at noon today, Nov. 7, 2011.

Elementary School third-grade teacher Terry Dougherty will find out on Thursday if she will be the winner of the $10,000 grant for the in a contest sponsored by GOOD and the University of Phoenix.

Dougherty was one of 10 teachers nominated and selected to compete in this year's contest because of her work helping who constantly relocate adjust to their new surroundings.

Teachers in the contest were asked a new question each week since the first week of October, and respond via video on GOOD's web site, good.is/gato. The public then voted on the videos, and the two teachers with the least amount of votes were eliminated each week.

Dougherty and were the finalists for the award. The winner will be announced Thursday, Nov. 10.
