Greater Egg School District Appoints Professionals For 2012-13 School Year
Reorganization begins despite the district moving elections to November.
The Greater Egg Harbor Regional School District Board of Education appointed its professionals for the 2012-13 school year Monday night, May 21, and in doing so, stayed with the tradition of appointing the professionals during the fiscal calendar year. The tradition remained in place even though the school board election and reorganization has changed.
The Board of Education opted to move the school board election to November to coincide with the general election. Newly-elected members to the board will be sworn into office come January, 2013. However, the professionals will remain being appointed for terms that run from July 1 through June 30 of the following year, Business Administrator Charles Muller explained during Monday night's meeting.
"Why don't we do it in January and make it a clean break. I don't understand (why we have to make the appointments now)," School Board Vice President Margaret Guenther asked.
