Last Chance to Voice Opinion on School Budget

The public hearing on the Galloway Township School budget is tonight.

Earlier this year, the Galloway Township Board of Education school board elections to November and passed a resolution to pass the budget without voter approval, but Superintendent of Schools Annette Giaquinto has maintained that the voters can still have their opinions heard.

At the last meeting, the school board decided that the superintendent would give a presentation for for the school board to choose from following the defeat of the district's proposed to area schools two weeks ago.

The board will choose one, and the residents will have their say on the budget during the public hearing.

Prior to the referendum's defeat, the school district introduced a $56,123,664 budget with no tax lavy increase, but a 1.5 cent increase in taxes that was not attributable to the district.
