NJSBAIG Awards Galloway Community Charter School $3,000 Grant

The grant is a reward for the school's commitment to safety.

The New Jersey School Boards Association Insurance Group (NJSBAIG) has awarded the (GCCS) a $3,000 Safety Grant as a reward for the school's risk management, the school announced on Friday, Sept. 30.

GCCS was one of several schools throughout the state to receive grant money. The statewide total amounted to $4 million, GCCS Public Relations representative Felicia Niven said.

The grant will be used to further invest in safety and security-related investments at GCCS, the school said.

The grant was established in 2009, and GCCS received a grant that year, as well. That grant was for $2,000, with $3 million awarded statewide.

The grant is designed to help member districts reduce their loss exposure and their insurance costs by proactive risk management.

This year, one of NJSBAIG's goals is to assist with funding for emergency preparedness, including in case of hurricane or flooding. GCCS will use part of the grant money toward that, and determine what it will use the rest for at the Board of Trustees meeting Oct. 17.

NJSBAIG was established in 1983, and is the only statewide, member-owned joint insurance fund for school districts. It is a nonprofit, public entity that provides property, casualty and worker's compensation insurance to community and public schools in the state.
