Tony Atlas Comes to Tilton Fitness Tonight

The now-MMA stars will visit Tilton Fitness over the next three days, ahead of an appearance in Atlantic City.

Galloway residents get the chance to meet former WWE superstar Tony Atlas tonight, and former boxing heavyweight champion Merciless Ray Mercer will join him over the course of the next three days.

Mercer and Atlas will appear at today, Friday and Saturday, Oct. 20-22 in advance of their respective appearances at the televised MMA and Sports Expo in Atlantic City the ensuing weekend.

Atlas, an all-American bodybuilder and weightlifter also known as the “Black Superman” will take part in a meet-and-greet and autograph session with Tilton Fitness club members tonight, Oct. 20 from 6-7 p.m. He will then do a video shoot from 7-8 p.m., and will work out at the club from 8-10 p.m.

Atlas and former Olympic boxing gold medalist and former WBO heavyweight champion Mercer have morning training sessions planned at Tilton Fitness on Friday, Oct. 21 and Saturday, Oct. 22.

Mercer is regarded as the last American heavyweight champion, and was in his last title fight in 2002, losing to Wladimir Klitschko by knockout on June 29 of that year. He has also competed in the ring with the likes of Larry Holmes, Evander Holyfield, Lennox Lewis and Tommy Morrison.

Atlas wrestled in every major company, including the NWA, WCW and the WWE, with his most recent WWE stint coming in 2010.

Both now compete in the world of Mixed Martial Arts, and will be participating in the Legends of Combat show at Resorts Hotel in Atlantic City Oct. 21 and 22.
