Storm Needs Two Wins for State Title

The Babe Ruth 14-and-under softball team faces Willingboro tonight at 6:30.

The Galloway Storm 14-and-under Babe Ruth softball team can still win a state championship, but it will need two wins against Willingboro to do so.

The Storm went 2-1 this weekend in the state championship tournament at Egg Harbor Township to advance to tonight's final, which begins at 6:30.

The Storm defeated Vineland twice, but a loss to Willingboro put them in a position where they need two victories. Willingboro only needs one.

The Storm opened the tournament on Saturday with an 11-10 victory over Vineland.

On Sunday, the Storm suffered a setback with a 14-9 loss to Willingboro. Taylor Martin was named the MVP of both games for the Storm.

The Storm then faced Vineland for a second time in the double-elimination tournament. Galloway scored seven runs in the top of the first inning, then held on for a 13-9 win to advance to the final. Sara Pietropola was named MVP.
