World No. 1, Two Other 2011 Winners Join ShopRite LPGA Classic Field

Yani Tseng, the Rolex No. 1 player and 2011 Honda LPGA Thailand winner, was announced as one of three new participants in the tournament, scheduled for May 30-June 5 at the Seaview.

It was announced Tuesday morning that three of this year’s LPGA tournament winners joined the field for the 2011 ShopRite LPGA Classic, including the No. 1 player in the world, according to the Rolex Rankings.

Current No. 1 player Yani Tseng, the winner of this year’s Honda LPGA Thailand tournament joins the eight previously announced competitors and two other newly announced golfers to bring the total number of announced players to this point to 11.

2011 Kia Classic winner Sandra Gal and 2011 Kraft Nabisco Championship winner Stacy Lewis were also announced for the tournament on Tuesday.

Thus far, five tournaments have been held during the LPGA season, which started in February, and the winners of all five of those tournaments will be competing at the ShopRite LPGA Classic, to be held at the Seaview Dolce Resort the week of May 30-June 5.

The other 2011 tournament winner set to play, who was previously announced, is Karrie Webb, who won both the HSBC Women’s Champion and RR Donnelly LPGA Founder’s Cup.

“The 2011 season is off to an exciting start,” ShopRite LPGA Classic Tournament Executive Director Tim Erensen said. “We are thrilled to have these champions scheduled to compete.”

Other previously announced competitors in this year’s 54-hole, $1.5 million purse tournament are:

* 2010 ShopRite LPGA Classic winner Ai Miyazato;

* Hall of Famer Juli Inkster, winner of the 1996 and 1998 tournaments;

* Christie Kerr, the 2004 tournament champion who is currently ranked No, 3 in the world according to the LPGA Rolex Rankings;

* Seon Hwa Lee, winner of the 2006 tournament;

* Janice Moodie, the 2000 ShopRite LPGA Classic champion;

* Hall of Famer Se Ri Pak, the 1999 tournament champion; and

* Angela Stanford, the 2003 winner.
