UPDATED: Atlantic County Under Flood Advisory Until Noon

Slow moving thunderstorms are moving through the county.

UPDATE: The advisory has expired.

ORIGINAL: The National Weather Service has placed Atlantic County under a flood advisory until noon.

Just before 9 a.m. Monday, the weather service out of Mount Holly detected slow moving thunderstorms with heavy rain hovering around the center of the county, as well as Cape May and Cumberland counties.

An hour of rainfall bringing with it an inch or two are likely, and may cause flooding. Excessive runoff can cause elevated levels of small creeks and streams and ponding may take place.

The National Weather Service reminds drivers not to drive through areas where water covers the roadway, as most deaths related to flooding take place in automobiles.
