UPDATED: Severe Thunderstorm Warning Canceled Sunday

A Severe Thunderstorm Warning was in effect for Atlantic County until 4:45 Sunday, when the storm was expected to hit Galloway.

UPDATED: The Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Atlantic County was canceled Sunday.

According to the National Weather Service, the storm system has moved out of the area, prompting the cancellation of the previous warning.

ORIGINAL: The National Weather Service out of Mount Holly has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Eastern Atlantic County until 4:45 Sunday afternoon.

The storm was near English Creek at 3:40 p.m., and was expected to move to Northfield at 4:10, Pleasantville at 4:25 and Galloway and Absecon at 4:45.

It is moving northeast at 10 miles an hour, and is capable of bringing with it hail one inch or larger and winds of up to 60 miles an hour.

Very heavy rain is also expected and could bring with it flooding in low lying areas. NWS reports frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring in connection with the storm.
