Cold Front Packs High Winds and More Arctic Temperatures
Galloway Township can expect gusts up to 50 mph on Monday afternoon and wind chills below zero on Tuesday.
A cold front is rapidly approaching Galloway Township and wind chills could dip as low as -4 by tonight, according to a special weather statement issued by the National Weather Service.
The front will blow in between 12 p.m. and 1 p.m. on Monday. Winds behind the front will gust to between 40 to 50 miles per hour.
After a week of sub-freezing temperatures in Galloway Township, the thermometer reached 45 degrees early Monday afternoon, but the warmth won't last long. Expect a low of 11 degrees tonight with a wind chill of -1 and northwest winds up to 22 miles per hour.
Tuesday will be mostly sunny with a high of 21 degrees and a wind chill of -5 degrees. Gusty northwest winds will blow at 11 to 21 miles per hour. Wednesday will see a high near 23 degrees and west winds of 13 miles per hour.
NBC40 meteorologist Dan Skeldon reported Monday that a winter storm may graze the coast early Wednesday, and there's some possibility of a dusting or an inch or two of snow in Cape May County.
Temperatures will gradually moderate towards the end of the week, and high temperatures should be in the 40s by the weekend.
The ocean water temperature was down to 34 degrees on Monday.
