Centralized County Dispatch Center Possible at Stockton College

Freeholders are going ahead with plans to consolidate dispatch services in Atlantic County, which could cost in excess of $30 million.

After years of planning and researching by government officials, Freeholders in Atlantic County are preparing to take the next step toward consolidating the 9-1-1 dispatch services into one facility, and that facility may be the Richard Stockton College of New Jersey in Galloway. The 9-1-1 Consolidation Feasibility Study, conducted by the county in 2007 by L. Robert Kimball and Associates, analyzed the benefits and negatives of having localized dispatching as opposed to a centralized dispatching system. The study found that localized dispatching service hampers multi-jurisdictional efforts to respond to a crisis. The County has mandated that Galloway must update their Radio equipment. This was reported by Chief Moran at a Council Meeting in Sept. and confirmed by Mayor Purdy to be at a cost of close to 1 million $. In light of this story, I would use caution in upgrading at this time . If Atlantic County centralizes dispatch services, we may be paying for equipment that is not needed. Local Reps Meeting with Turnpike Authority

Local Reps Holding Meetings to Evaluate Interchange Construction and Projects

Sen. Christopher J. Connors, Assemblyman Brian Rumpf and Assemblywoman DiAnne Gove have been receiving calls from constituents concerned about the plans for additional parkway interchanges along Route 30 and Jimmie Leeds Road. In response the District 9 legislative delegation representing citizens throughout Atlantic County sent a letter on Aug. 28 proposing that the Casino Reinvestment Development Authority (CRDA) set funds for the land acquisition and construction of a full interchange citing their belief that it is within the CRDA's core mission to support Atlantic City's economy. Jane Lugo Steps Down as County CFO and Treasurer

Atlantic County appoints new CFO and Treasurer Bonnie Lindaw at the County Freeholder's Meeting in Mays Landing.

After working with Atlantic County's budget office since 1988, Chief Financial Officer Jane Lugo will retire this year. The Atlantic County Board of Freeholders unanimously agreed on a resolution confirming the appointment of Bonnie Lindaw as the new chief financial officer and treasurer of the county on Tuesday at the Atlantic County Justice Facility in Mays Landing. After serving as a comptroller, Lindaw graduated in 1987 from the Richard Stockton College of New Jersey and has been serving the county as Comptroller for the last four years. She has been with the county since 2001. “I look forward to serving the county and maintaining a high level of fiscal management that the freeholders expect,” said Lindaw. Freeholders Receive In Writing Assurances No Tolls For Galloway

Freeholders Dase and Marino explain that no tolls will be coming to Galloway at Freeholder meeting Tuesday afternoon.

Atlantic County freeholders met Tuesday in Northfield to discuss county bridges and concerns about the parkway rest stop in Galloway, which was addressed by two freeholders, who sought to clear up a few common misconceptions about the state's plans. After the meeting, Richard Dase, District 4 Freeholder, who represents Absecon, Brigantine, Galloway Township and Port Republic along with Freeholder-at-Large Alexander Marino explained that there has been a lot of confusion regarding the plans for the parkway rest stop along with any effects it may have on the area. Advocates for ARCH seek help for Atlantic County Freeholders

Advocates for the Atlantic Riding Center for Health are embroiled in a battle with their own board over the sale of the facility.

Fifteen advocates for the Atlantic Riding Center for Health (ARCH) sought support from their local government in hopes of saving their nonprofit organization on Tuesday, July 31. The group was on hand for the Atlantic County Freeholders' meeting in Northfield. It was seeking support and counsel from the board to save their nonprofit organization and their efforts to help handicapped riders who use ARCH facilities for therapy. It is currently subject to sale that, if it holds up, will be worth $410,000 for the facilities and the 12.84 acres of land.
