The promotion of Chris Doyle from lieutenant to the rank of captain was done so to keep up with an evolving police department, Galloway Police Chief Patrick Moran said following the council meeting on Tuesday night, May 14. “We’re expecting retirements over the next several years, and we need to move people into key positions,” Moran said. Doyle becomes the second captain on the force, along with Allan Kane. In January, Chris McGinty was promoted to the position of corporal and Mark D’Esposito was promoted to sergeant. Doyle’s promotion leaves the department with a vacant lieutenant’s position that Moran said would not be filled. There are no lieutenants on the force. Students and faculty at Absegami High School are returning to the building following an early morning evacuation due to a chemical spill, according to The Press of Atlantic City. The spill of an unidentified material took place on the second floor of the school around 9 a.m. Students and faculty were allowed to return to the building just before noon. Up to six people were taken to the hospital with symptoms.

Tuan Tran stepped out into the street on East Great Creek Road just before 3 a.m. Sunday morning.
A Galloway man is in the hospital after being struck by a car on East Greek Road and East Jimmie Leeds Road early this morning, Galloway Township Police said Sunday morning, May 5. Tuan Tran, 27, stepped out in front of a 1998 Nissan Maxima, which was traveling east on Great Creek Road at 2:46 a.m., police said. He was taken to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center City Division with a head injury, according to police. The car was being driven by Mark Kolesinski, 19, of Atlantic City, who was uninjured in the collision. It was unclear why Tran stepped out into the middle of the street, or how fast Kolesinski was driving at the time of the collision, but no summonses were issued, police said. Three men were hospitalized following a two-car accident on Chris Gaupp Drive and Route 30 on Saturday, April 20, Galloway Police said. Two of them were to be treated for head injuries, with the third suffering a minor injury to his right arm. Wally De Los Santos was shot to death in his own driveway on April 4.
The Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office is asking for the public's help as it seeks the killer or killers involved in the shooting death of a Galloway Township man last week. Wally De Los Santos was shot to death in his own driveway on Falling Leaf Court last Thursday, April 4, at 2:13 a.m. De Los Santos owned a number of Atlantic City businesses, including barber shops and a party promotion business. The shots were heard by his step daughter, and his body was discovered by his step daughter and his daughter.
