Frustration With FEMA At Little Egg Meeting

Many questioned how much money they would be entitled to, and how that money could be used to comply with advisory base flood elevations.

Just hours after the House approved $9.7 billion in Sandy relief, a standing-room only crowd packed into the Pinelands Regional High School, firing questions to FEMA representatives about how they will access federal monies to rebuild, and how to go about rebuilding. Many communities in Ocean County participate in the National Flood Insurance Program, which goes through the community rating system. That means homeowners receive a 15 percent reduction on their flood insurance and are eligible for the Increased Cost of Compliance (ICC) rider grant of $30,000 if their homes need to be raised. Marijuana Grow Site Found in Little Egg, Atlantic County Man Arrested

An Atlantic County man was arrested after authorities say they tied him to a marijuana grow site in Little Egg Harbor. The exact location of the site wasn't identified, but Ocean County Prosecutor Marlene Lynch Ford said Thursday that it was located in a wooded area in the township. Detectives from the Prosecutor’s Special Operations Group along with members of the Little Egg Harbor Police Department and the New Jersey State Police arrested Jon M. Peditt, 51, after he was "observed tending to more than seventeen marijuana plants in the wooded area," Ford said.
