Recent warnings from the National Weather Service indicate high tides and potential for flooding.
The National Weather Service is predicting that a nor'easter impacting New Jersey could cause minor to moderate flooding along coastal areas with the possibility of dune breaches and property damage to already vulnerable structures. According to a recent update from the NWS, the winter storm, which will bring heavy sustained winds and wind gusts and rain and snow through Thursday and into early Friday morning, will close roads, cause beach erosion, and present a particularly significant threat to beaches and shore communities already compromised following Hurricane Sandy. Chris Christie has ordered the activation of the State Emergency Operations Center Wednesday morning in anticipation of a mid-Atlantic coastal storm expected to bring heavy rain and snow, high winds and coastal flooding to New Jersey. New Jersey's coastal areas were under multiple severe weather advisories Wednesday as a powerful nor'easter enters the region. A coastal flood warning, wind advisory and winter storm watch were in effect, as well as a storm warning for offshore waters. Several municipalities, including Brick, Toms River, Point Pleasant Boro, Waretown, Atlantic City, Ocean City and Barnegat were warning residents of barrier islands and low-lying areas to get to out of harm's way and move their vehicles to higher ground. The heaviest concentration of outages is in the Pomona section.
The Nor'easter making its way through the area is causing power outages throughout Galloway Township on Wednesday, Nov. 7. The highest concentration of outages is in the Pomona section of the township, where over 1,000 residents are without power, according to the Atlantic City Electric outage map. The total number of residents in Pomona without power is 1,645. Some businesses have begun to close for the night due to the outages. According to the map, 11 customers throughout the rest of the township are experiencing outages. The map shows about 3,065 outages in nearby Absecon, and 29 in Port Republic. Hundreds of thousands of New Jerseyans still reeling without power as temperatures took a decidedly colder turn the last two nights now face the prospect of a major Nor'easter striking the state Wednesday into Thursday. The National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather outlook for the tri-state area, and it's predictions have grown more dire in recent days. A Nor'easter could sock Sandy-battered New Jersey in the middle of next week, the National Weather Service is predicting. "This storm has the potential to bring strong, gusty winds ... rain/wintry precipitation .. and coastal flooding to the tri-state area," the NWS said. The possible storm, coupled with temperatures in the 30s the next few nights, underscores the urgency to restore power to weary residents. The NWS, however, says the storm is not a sure bet, despite the service issuing a hazardous weather outlook. "There is still uncertainty to the exact track this storm will take," it reported.

Surfers and fishermen outnumbered beach walkers on many beaches Saturday evening as Hurricane Sandy approached offshore. These surfers and fishermen were at the beach in Bay Head, which is under mandatory state orders to evacuate by 4 p.m. Sunday.

A spring nor'easter with rain and high winds soaked the Jersey Shore on Sunday and continued to churn on Monday morning. From the shore north through New York City and into southern New England, up to 4 inches of rain is expected to fall by mid-morning on Monday. A coastal flood warning has been declared for the area. The National Weather Service issued a coastal flood warning for the area on Sunday but predicted the storm calming to a drizzle this evening.
