Galloway ShopRite Recalls Store Made Ground Meat Sold on Wednesday

The ground meat may contain small pieces of black tray lining pad.

Galloway ShopRite has recalled all store made ground beef produced and sold on Wednesday, Jan. 2, the store announced late Wednesday night. The reason for the voluntary recall was the possibility of small pieces of black tray lining pad used in the packaging getting into the meat, according to the store. The recall includes all varieties ground beef made in the store on Jan. 2, including ground beef and meatloaf mix, according to the store. All other meat products sold at the store are not impacted by the recall, according to ShopRite. No injuries related to the recall have been reported, according to ShopRite. “We are advising customers who purchased any of these products at the ShopRite of Galloway to return them for an immediate refund …

This has happened before at Galloway Shop Rite. Several months ago, we took back some ground beef that had bits of that black packaging ground up in it. So, it looks like it's an ongoing problem.   more ›

Galloway Women Win Cereal Box Fame

A mother and daughter, both ShopRite employees, will see themselves on a special-edition Cheerios box.

When you dig into your morning bowl of Cheerios starting next week, two Galloway neighbors will be smiling at you from the box. Sandra Jusino and Brittney Melanson, both Galloway residents, are featured on special-edition Cheerios box for their work in fighting hunger. The ShopRite employees helped their store triumph in a contest to raise money for National Hunger Awareness Month this past September. This year, ShopRite issued a challenge to its employees: raise $1 million to support local food banks in communities that ShopRite serves. And raise the money they did, so Cheerios and ShopRite teamed up to create a special-edition box featuring 90 ShopRite employees. The employees come from 45 winning stores.
